About a year and a half ago I was chatting with a fascinating fellow at the Internet Retailer show in Chicago. I struck up a conversation with him when he asked the moderator during a PPC session about placing high bids in Google, and advertising with his worst CTR ad copy to drive up the competitors costs. I don’t know if the strategy would work, but I do know many PPC folks set their bidding strategy around manipulating their competitors budgets, and clicks, etc…
It turned out, this fellow was a veteran in the ECommerce space who was building his second successful IR500 company. We were discussing marketing strategy and he dropped this brilliant insight onto my lap.
“If You Want To Win In Business, You Need To Excel At Any Two of These Three Things. Service, Quality, and Price.”
If you have the best price, and a quality product, you will make the sale. If you have the best quality and top notch service, you will win the customer. If you have the best price, and great service, you can sell a poor quality product without blinking an eye. Bottom line, as long as you beat your competitors at two of these three elements, you will WIN!
Just some food for thought… what do you think?
