I was trying to create some display ads for a client when I found this new adwords feature which i can only hope is an April Fools prank.
I clicked through to see what it lets me do and it looks like Google went all out on this one.
The adbirds feature lets you choose from one of 6 types of birds, and says, “your bird will fly in any existing targeted locations in your account. Migratory birds may only be available in certain regions…”
You can place text on the birds beak, head, wings and tail feathers. When you create an ad it gives you this error message…
Thanks Google for the small laugh. Normally, I am not a fan of April Fools on the internet because half the pranks I wish were real and I end up disappointed.
The truth is though, April Fools jokes are great for generating press, buzz, and attracting natural links, so maybe I should incorporate it into my own marketing strategies.
